Victim of an Austrian Vengeance

. i . —— Amsterdam, Nov. 21. According to a telegram from Vienna to the Berlin papers the Supreme Landwehr Tribunal of Vienna has confirmed the death sentences passed on the Czechs Dr. Kramarzli, Dr. Rasliin M. Servinka, and M. Zremazal who were accused o thigh treason. —Reuter. Dr. Gramarzh was arrested at Par.gue in April, '1915, on a charge of high treason. His trial began on December 6 the same year. With Dr. Dashin and Vincene Servinka, mem- . bers of the Reichsrath, and a clerk named Josef Zremazal, he was sentenced to death on June 3, 1916. Tho official report of the trial gave 110 details of tlie charges. It may, however ■be pointed- out that his chief offence in the eye of the 'Germans was his resolute opposition to the Austro-Ger-man alliance and his advocacy of close relations betwteen Austria-Hungary Russia. In order to secure his conviction the prosecution had recourse to forgery. Among the documents produced as evidence against him was a copy of a letter written by Dr. Kramarzli to Prince Thun, then Lord Lieutenant of Bohemia, on the policy of Austria towards the Slavs. In translating the letter his accusers falsified the text. On the demand of Dr. Kramarzli Prince Thun produced the original letter and convicted the court of the use of forgery.
