[I'ER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WHEAT AMD OATS. Christchurch, March 21. The wheat market has not altered since last report. The anticipation that the Southland oat crop would prove- to be considerably below the average both in bulk and in yield per acre has been only too fully realised. The result has been a further jump in market rates, sales as high as 4s per bushel being recorded. RAILWAY FATALITY AT SHANNON'. Palmerstan North, This Day. Some time last night a fatality occurred on the railway near Shannon, the victim, being John iMcGurk, clerk at a flaxmill. Deceased visted Shannon in the evening, and left for the mill about eight o'clock. He was struck by a passing train. The body was discovered this morning. Death probably was instantaneous. The victime had not been long in the district.
