A Quaint Letter
A Dunedin non-commissioned officer. who is billeted somewhere in France, and who is (or was) being made as comfortable as possible, liad the following quojint and appreciative note placed on liis bed. "We give it as written.— I.—There is behind the door from your-bedroom a little cupboard; she is at yoivr disposition. 2. If you desire apprehend the french language, I shall be happy to give you a lesson every day in the eVoning. I am nvistress school at . I have finished work at 5 o'clock and the thursday I not work. 3. You are here like in your own li'ouse; the 'response from the youth o'f N. Zelande and Australia is admirable ; we are happy that we may ameliorate the lot of their courageous volunteer soldiers. 4.—Excuse my incorrect language; it is "very difficult to me because we never studious this language before the war. • s.—AVill you take coffee yourself if you please?
