The patriotic character of tho work being carried on by the Dr Barnardo s Homes is recognised nowadays throughout the British 'Empire, and any appeal 011 belialf of tin; homes is worthy of the whole-hearted support of the community. It is well-known already that over 8000 boys from Dt Barnardo's homes are serving in the present great war. The burden imposed upon the homes has greatly increased* since the war began owing to many little ones who have lost their parents being now cared for by the vßarnardo Homes. The ladies committee of the lievin Red Cross have decided to assist, and for this purpose they have set aside next Saturday as a specal shop day at the Red Oross shop. Gifts of meat, vegetables, fruit, produce, etc., ate specially asked for as it is hoped' to make a record day.
