Cpbe pbess association.] RESTRICTIONS IN PASSPORTS. Christchurch, Last Night. The Hon G. W. Russell stated today that the question had arisen in connection with instructions received from the Imperial Goverment regarding the restriction of the issue of passports to women who purpose travelling through the submarine danger zone, whether the embargo applies to vessels leaving New Zealand for South Africa, Panama, the United States and Canada.
The Minister hopes to be able to make a definite announcement on the subject shortly to the effect that a limited number of passports for "women may be issued, each application to receive special consideration. In no case, however, will permits be issued to women to leave New Zealand if their final destination can only be reached by traversing the danger zone.
