Gaslight Bowling Journey
TO BE HELD IN LEVIN. The proposal to hold a bowling tournament by gaslight in Levin next mouth was discussed at a meeting of Levin Bowling Club last night. Ilr C. H. Pyke (president) was in the chair, and there also were present Messrs ltoe, Melntyre, Thomson, Dean, Young, Bertram, Currie, Pink, Pollock and Aplin. Apologies for unavoidable absence were sent by Messrs Matheson, F. O. Smith and Brown.
On the motion of Mr Roe, seconded by Mr Thomson, it was resolved that a gaslight patriotic tournament be held on 14th and 15th March, on Levin green. Mr Pyke proposed and Mr Roe seconded 'That half the net proceeds be given to Levin Red Cross branch and one-half to the Horowhenua County Patriotic Fund. This was agreed to.
The secretary was instructed t)o write to the Levin Ladies' Croquet Club, asking for its assistance at the tournament.
Committees were set up ias follows: — Lighting, Messrs Smith and {Roe; working Messrs Bertram, Pink and Lancaster; tournament: Messrs Currie, Porteous and Pollock; musical: Messrs Porteous, Ha,ll and Matheson; finance : Messrs Thomson and Pyke; side-shows: Messrs Roe and Pollock.
Admission to the tournament will be Is; children, half price.
Entries of players Vire to be made singly, at a cost of 2s (id each, and rinks will Ibe selected by the committee. ' Endeavours are to be made to secure visits from Shannon, Newtown (Wellington), Foxton and Palmerston North rinks.
