FRENCH CRIPPEN CASE.
Victor Gaubert has been arrested for the murder of bis wife, Eliza, at the village of Lappene, near Marseilles, in circumstances resembling those of the Crippen case. Eliza Gaubert disappeared in October, her husband alleging that she had gone to Muritius Later he announced her death, and married Antonia Sidolles, a village girl. Gaubert left home during the making of repairs to his house. Workmen noticed that the tiles in the scullery were uneven, and discovered the body of Eliza Gaubert, Gaubert states ithat his wife and he had a violent altercation over Antonia, and that she (Eliza) suddenly dropped dead. Fearing arrest, he concealed the body.
