Great Victory, who has had two firsts and a second in his last four races, was unable to start at Washdyke last Saturday owing to soreness. If he has recovered sufficiently to enable hiili to start on the second day he is sure to be one of the favourites. Grand Jumper

Lisheen was made a firm first favourite on both machines at the South Canterbury meeting on Saturday and he justified this support by winning comfortably. He has recorded two firsts and a third in his last three appearances and should improve on that record in the next few months. He may be seen out in the steeplechase events at Wingatui next month. Surpise Winner

Haughty Dick, always well placed in the Seadown Handicap at Washdyke on Saturday, took charge with a furlong to run and went on to score a convincing win. This was his first placed performance in eleven starts.
