B Grade Tennis VINCENT v. MANTOTOTO, AT CLYDE
On Saturday, April 3, 1948, the representative match, Vincent v. Maniototo, was played at Clyde, excellent playing conditions being experienced. The standard of play was exceptionally high, and Vincent were unlucky at the commencement of play not to secure a win, as two more sets during the day would have put them in a favourable position, the final scores being: Maniototo, 14 sets, 100 games. Vincent, 10 sets, 144 games. Mr H. Clark, on behalf of the Vincent team, thanked the visiting players for coming to this annual fixture, to which both teams looked forward to very much each year. The Clyde ladies were also to be thanked for the morning and afternoon tea, which was, as always, a credit to them. Mr J. Bruhns, on behalf of Maniototo, endorsed Mr Clark’s remarks about the morning and afternoon tea, and remarked on the efficiency of the secretary, Mr Clark, and his organisation of the meeting.
