United Nations Appeal for Children

MAYOR TO SPONSOR PUBLIC MEETING The Mayor of Queenstown, Dr W. A. Anderson, has received a letter from the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, and the Leader of the Opposition, Mr Holland, in connection with the United Nations appeal for Children. • The letter states that a world-wide campaign for funds for the relief of distressed children is being held. For the organisation of this appeal within New Zealand, a committee has been set up. A request is made to Mayors throughout the Dominion to call Public Meetings on the evening, of April 6 to organise local campaigns for the appeal to be made in May. A good attendance is hoped for at the Queenstown meeting and in this connection the Mayor, Dr Anderson, says: “ I appeal to all men and women of goodwill in this town to help me in making this effort a success, not only for the good name of Queenstown, whose patriotic giving was so generous, but for the sake of the Hungry and Starving Children in all Lands.”
