ACCIDENT

Mr Mathew Arnold, of 31 Station road, Papatoetoe, Auckland, was proceeding over the Crown Range on his way to Wanaka, when, turning the first corner at the foot of the Crown Range, a hawk arising in sudden flight flew into the wind screen of the car, blocking the driver’s vision and as a result the car left the road, capsizing and landing with its top on a rock. The driver, Mr. Arnold, fortunately was thrown into the back seat of the car, which probably saved his life, as the top of the car was crushed right in, almost touching the steering wheel. He was removed to Prankton Hospital suffering from shock and severe cuts across the face.
