LETTERS OF THANKS FOR FOOD PARCELS
The clerk of the council for the urban district of Merton and Mordeu, England, has forwarded a bundle of over 100 letters to the town clerk. Queenstown, expressing grateful thanks from the people of tin 1 district foi food parcels received. These parcels were distributed to the aged and needy and it is from them that the letters have come. One is from a woman 101 years of age who tells of the enjoyment she received from the “ good things which came from you.” Another, from a woman 00 years of age, says: “As I am over 00 years of age and cannot queue, tiiese gifts were especially acceptable.” It is obvious that few of the writers know New Zealand’s geographical position for letters Avere addressed to “Australian friends,” “ people of the colonics,” “ friends in the commonwealth,” and one .started “ Dear Canadian Friends.” The parcel containing the letters Avas addressed to the ToAvn Clerk, Queensland, New Zealand. Postal officials had underlined Ncav Zealand and marked it “ try QueenstoAvn.”
