Wanaka P.W.M.U. First Meeting for 1948 The first meeting for the year of the Wanaka branch of the P.W.M.U. was held at the manse on the evening of Friday, February 13, in conjunction with the world day of prayer. Mrs C. Ironside j. resided over a good attendance including members of the G.A. from Hawea Flat and the meeting opened with devotion. Mrs Ironside then called on Mrs Miller to take charge of the meeting. Mrs Miller gave an interesting address on India, from the early days of the first mission work of the church, until the present time. The meetingclosed with the benediction. Mrs C. Morris made a presentation to Mi’s C. Ironside for the valuable services she had rendered over a considerable number of years, Mrs Ironside suitably replying. Supper was then served.
Bowling at Queenstown The final rink match in the Otago Central competitions took place on the local green on Saturday between Queenstown and Arrowtown. Three rinks were engaged and Arrowtown won two out of three games. Singular to relate, at the fifteenth head, the scores wore 18 all in one game, 13 all in another game and 12 in another.
