Health Inspector Reports to Council
Sanitary conditions generally appear satisfactory in the Queenstown borough, according to a report submitted by the Inspector of Health, Mr J. Brunton, at a meeting of the council last Thursday. The general standard of cleanliness in and around food premises in the borough was good, he stated. 2104 gallons of used oil have been sprayed on the most used roads to settle dust since the council last met. The Chief Traffic Inspector, who was recently at Queenstown, intimated that an inspector wo*uld be stationed at Queenstown over the peak holiday season next year. The swimming platform at the bathing sheds has been re-erected. The cemetery reserve dump has been closed and a dump at the Two Mile is now open. Queenstown Hill track has had some of the growth cleared from it, but still requires further attention. Direction signs have been placed on Ben Lomond walk. Necessary repairs have been done to the decking of the town wharf. The librarian’s report showed that fees and fines collected were: December, £5 4s 4d; January, £7 10s 2d; sale of old books, etc., £2 17s. Cr D. W. Thompson has been appointed to represent the Queenstown Borough Council on the Advisory Board of the Plunket Society.
