INVERCARGILL TO VISIT QUEENSTOWN

Rotary Club’s Celebrations

The third of a special series of Rotary meetings was held in the Parish Hall, Queenstown, on Tuesday evening last, when President Bob Robins announced that the Invercargill Club would visit Queenstown on Saturday, February 14, on the occasion of the Queenstown Club’s birthday. The visitors will probably meet the local club in a bowling match during the afternoon and follow with the celebrations in the evening. The Invercargill Club sponsored the formation of the Queenstown Club in 1945. The speaker for the evening was Dr J. Salmond, of Dunedin, who took as his subject, “The Glory of Otago.” P~ Salmond referred specifically to the c'-ii-tennial of Otago, which is being celebrated this year. He revealed the great contribution which Otago had made to the life of New Zealand and also the ’• hole world under the headings of religion, education and industry.
