Some idea of the popularity of this sport will be gained from the huge crowds who watch these boys racing in Dunedin. At a recent meeting at Tahuna Park, over 4000 spectators were kept on their toes, during a full afternoon’s racing. Among the visiting riders, such namds as Earl Smithers, lan Gunn and Watty Morris are well-known “ thrillers,” and altogether there will be about. 21 riders.
