TRANSPORT LICENSING AUTHORITY At a sitting of the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority held in the courthouse, Cromwell, last Thursday, the following decisions were given by Mr W. Arnold: — Goods Service Licenses J. Challis, Cromwell. —Application for one vehicle authority to carry shingle for Fulton Hogan, Ltd., in the province of Otago. —Withdrawn. W. H. Bell, Cromwell. —(a) Application for amendment to vehicle authority No. 5394 by deleting present route and substituting the areas of Lake and Vincent Counties for the cartage t)f road-making materials and equipment for the Public Works Department, local bodies and/or their contractors, (b) One additional vehicle authority —- areas as in (a). —Decision was reserved in both applications. Passenger Service Licenses W. L. Anderson, Tarras, sought permission to make one return trip between Tarras and Cromwell each Friday and once per month from Lindis Pass to Cromwell. —Decision reserved. The application of the Hon. Minister of Railways for a renewal of the authority for Wanaka —Queenstown was granted. Taxicab Service Licenses The application of D. Hpdgkinson, of Dunedin, to operate in the Hawea Flat area, which was heard at a previous sitting and adjourned, was again adjourned. W. Sanders, Cromwell. —-Application for renewal. —Granted. D. M. McLeod, Wanaka. —Application for renewal and amendment to change of name to McLeod’s Transport Co., Ltd. —Granted. The application of Cromwell Motors, Ltd., to change of name to Key’s Cromwell Motors, Ltd., was granted. Milling Timber Appraisal The county engineer (Mr H. A. Vezcy) told the Lake County Council that arrangements had been completed for an officer of the State Forestry Department, Invercargill, to make an appraisal of the milling timber at the council’s plantation in Wanaka Riding.
