CROMWELL SWIMMING CLUB

The first meeting of the season was held on December 1(5 when the chairman, Mr W. Simpson presented the annual report. A successful carnival was held last year in conjunction with the War Memorial Committee. Mr Simpson referred to the many promising swimmers in Cromwell, some of whom had been successful in Dunedin competitions. The balance sheet disclosed a sound financial position. The following office bearers were elected: — President, Mr Jas. Munro; vicepresidents, Messrs A. Bell (senior vicepresident), R. Bretherton and F. Foote; secretary, E. Bell; committee —Mrs B. Currie, Miss R. Gibson, Messrs A. Duthie, D. Scott, L. Jelley, R. McGregor, M. Lawrie, E. Hosking and O. Walker. Honorary Members Tickets arc to be offered to the general public and it is hoped that greater interest will be taken in the club by this way. One hour each week is to be devoted to the tuition of club members. As the paralysis restrictions prevented any carnivals being held in the meantime discussion was left till a later date. Mr Simpson thanked those who had attended the meeting and those who had given the club assistance during the year. The best wishes of the meeting were extended to Mr Simpson who is leaving Cromwell shortly.
