(From the Files of the Mail) 199; C. O’Neill, 63. The grand total of all New Zealand gold since the gold discoveries was 3,059,4610z5, valued at £11,940,298. The amount exported from Dunedin was 2,058,0420z5, valued St £7,928,790. The following appointments were made to the fire brigade at a public meeting: Captain, Mr Powell; Lieutenant, Mr Burns; foreman, Mr Mathesoh; secretary, Mr M. Fraer. Mr Rees, who left the district about this time, was presented with a purse of 100 guineas.
