EXPRESS TRAINS From Thursday, December 18j to Saturday, January 10, inclusive, the 8.35 a.m. Christchurch-Invercargill, the 7.0 a.m. Invercargill-Lyttelton Wharf, the 8.33 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill and the 1.25 p.m. Invercargill-Dunedin Express trains will run daily (Sundays excepted). Note. —On December 20 and January 5 the 8.33 a.m. Dunedin-Invercargill and Express trains will run between Dunedin and Gore only. The usual Friday 6.40 p.m. Invercar-gill-Christchurch Express train will NOT run from Invercargill to Dunedin on Friday, December 26, and January RELIEF EXPRESS TRAINS DECEMBER 19, 24 and JANUARY 9. —Leave Dunedin 5.43 p.m., arrive Invercargill 10.12 p.m. DECEMBER 20 and JANUARY 5. Leave Dunedin 9.0 a.m., arrive Inver* cargill 1.38 pan. Leave Invercargill 1.45 pan., arrive Dunedin 6.23 pan. DECEMBER 24.—Leave Invercargill 6.40 pan., Dunedin 11.20, arrive Christchurch 7.18 a.m. (25th). KINGSTON-GORE LAKE WAKATIPU SERVICE From Thursday, December 18, to Monday, January 12, inclusive, trains will run daily (Sundays excepted) as follows: — Leave Gore 12.15 pan., Lumsden 1.58, arrive Kingston 3.35 p.m. Leave Kingston 11.0 a.m., Lumsden 1.0 pan., arrive Gore 2,23 pan. Both trains connect with Queens-town-Kingston steamer which will run daily (Sundays excepted) during the same period, leaving Queenstown at 8.20 a.m., returning leaving Kingston at 4.0 p.m. From Friday, December 19 until further notice the Queenstown-Head of Lake Steamer will run each Monday. Wednesday and Friday, leaving Queenstown at 8.30 a.m., returning leaving Glcnorchy at 3.30 p.m. ROAD MOTOR SERVICE The Queenstown-Lumsden, the Monday, Wednesday and Friday 1.0 p.m. Lumsden-Gore and 12.15 p.m. GoreLumsden Road Services will be suspended from December 18 to January 12, inclusive. After January 12, a steamer will NOT run for passenger traffic between Queenstown and Kingston, and passenger trains will NOT run between Kingston and Gore. Passengers will require to travel by QueensownLumsden Road Motor connecting at Lumsden with Gore-Lumsden Road Motor Service on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. , Note. —Rail or steamer tickets are not available by road motor. Excursion Fares on Lake Wakatipu Holiday Excursion tickets will be issuable between Kingston and Queenstown from December 18, 1947, to January 10, 1948, available for return until January 12, 1948, and between Head of Lake and Queenstown from December 22 to January 7, inclusive, available for return until January 9. Day Excursion tickets to Elfin Bay, Greenstone and Glcnorchy will be issuable from Queenstown from Monday, December 22, until further notice. Training in Athletics The instruction in. athletics, which has been inaugurated under the auspices of the Queenstown Athletic Club, began last week. There was a good attendance of potential athletes and very encouraging form was shown. It is hoped that full advantage will be taken of the instruction that is being offered, in cases, by experts. Training is being carried out on Monday nights.
