Wan aka Beats Arrowtown The second match in the shield fixtures was played on the Wanaka bowling green last Saturday, when Arrowtown visited Wanaka and was defeated in the three games. Results, Arrowtown names mentioned first, and skips only, were: E. Saunders 14 v. R. Walker 21; A. Erridge 16 v. J. Perrow 18; G. Ogilvie 19 v. R. Stevenson 28. Two rinks of women bowlers from Cromwell visited Wanaka last Thursday to play an interclub match. Wanaka won both games. Results, Cromwell names first, skips only, were; Miss Templeton 8 v. Mrs A. McKegg 35; Mrs Hosking 13 v. Mrs Studholme 18. In a match for the Handicap Pairs Buttons, J. Gardiner and A. Campbell defeated E. Richmond and H. Halliday (holders) 27 —21. In a match for the Handicap Singles Button, J. Perrow (scr) defeated H. Harris (6) 21—16.

VVANAKA P.W.M.U. Mrs C. Ironside presided at the monthly meeting of- the P.W.M.U. held at Mrs D. Campbell’s residence last Wednesday evening. Mrs W. Hogan reported on the P.W.M.U. conference at Christchurch, at which she was a delegate for Central Otago. She gave the members an interesting account of the proceedings. Hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Burghess, Blanc, and Campbell, unity and appreciation of responsibility of citizenship of ex-servicemen. Following this a social hour was held.
