WAKATIPU SKI CLUB
Annual Meeting There was a good attendance of members at the animal meeting of the H'akatipu Ski Club last week. The president, Captain G. A. Herbert, was in the chair. The balance sheet disclosed a good financial position, the assets totalling £224 18s Kid, and the liabilities £23 *4s sd. Officers elected were: —President, Captain Herbert (re-elected); patron, Mr H. Wigley; vice-presidents, Dr Anderson, Messrs 0. Greenslade, J. E. Home, P. Gibson; secretary and treasurer, Mrs C. M. Inglis; assistant secretary, Miss E. Barnett; club captain, D. G. Jardine; field captains, Messrs R. Eusor and Hansen; auditor, C. M. Inglis; executive committee —Messrs Reid, Jardine, Greenslade, Ensor, Lonsdale (2), Cochrane, Hansen, Inglis, Misses McDowall, Inder, Barnett, Mesdames Herbert and C. Inglis; ladies’ captain, Mrs Ensor; field committee — Messrs Jardine, Cochrane, Hansen, Reid, Ensor, Greenslade, >S. Lonsdale; junior captain, Mr G. Lonsdale. The club placed ou record the services* rendered to the club by Mr Cochrane. Miss Barnett was nominated as a member of the club. It was resolved that the secretary thank Mr A. Chance, Dunedin, for material supplied for making competitors’ numbers; that the field committee with the inclusion of the junior cap-tain-and one other junior member be empowered to arrange a junior championship open to all comers; that outside supporters be asked to donate trophies for the men’s and ladies’ club championships and that the club provide miniatures suitably inscribed. The presentation of the Jardine Shield for the junior club championship was made by the president to Mr G. Lonsdale. He congratulated him on his win and congratulated Mr and Mrs }J # , Ensor who were, respectively, the winners of the men’s and ladies’ championships for 1947. Nine new members, all of Nelson, and one from Shag Valley, were nominated and accepted as members of the club. The subscriptions ivere fixed at 15s for senior members, reducible if paid by 20th July; junior members, 2s 6d. It. was decided to hold the club championships in the first week in August. It was decided to call on all accommodation places in the town with a view to finding out the number of people they were prepared to accommodate for the New Zealand championships. The secretary • was instructed to ask ski enthusiasts at Cromwell and Alexandra to consider forming subsidiary clubs as part of the Wakatipu club. The secretary was also instructed to ascertain the opinion of the Ski Council on the running of a junior inter-club competition. Accounts amounting to £23 4s 5d were passed for payment. It was resolved to vote an honorarium of £lO to the secretary.
