LITTLE INTEREST IN QUEENSTOWN LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
So far, very little interest is being taken in the local body elections at Queenstown. Up to Saturday last, the returning officer for the Lake County, Mr E. R. Hopwood, stated that the following nominations were in baud: —Bluff Harbour Board, Mr D. H. Cockburn; Southland Hospital Board, Mr .7. W. Miller; Wanaka Riding, Mr D. C. Aubrey; Arrow Riding, Messrs D. R. Rowe and W. H. Thompson; Greenstone Riding, Mr T. E. Bryant. At last Saturday’s meeting of the council, Cr A. E. Bntson intimated that be would not be a candidate for the Kingston Riding at this election. Nominations closed at 12 noon to-day. The returning officer for the Borough of Queenstown, Mr M. T. Robertson, stated that no nominations had been received for the Borough Council or for borough representation on the Central Otago Electric Power Board.
