BASKETBALL TOURNEY

Queenstown Shares Honours Five women’s and six men’s basketball teams took part in the tournament held in the Garrison Hall, Queenstown, on Saturday last. Although late in the season, the players demonstrated excellent form in their play. The women’s section was won by the Queenstown Girls’ Sports Club’s Rata ” team, the players being Mrs M. Nelson (captain), Misses E. Mcßride, E. McLean, R. Dagg, C. Dagg and M. Hocking. The men’s section was won by a visiting team from Waianawa. The local committee worked hard to ensure the success of the tournament and was ably assisted by Mr Bert Bradley, physical welfare and recreation officer of the Internal Affairs Department, Invercargill.
