SUCCESSFUL BOWLING FUNCTION

The pavilion and surroundings of tlie bowling club’s green were gaily decorated with flags for the twenty-first opening, which was held last Saturday. Mr A. C. Paterson, president of the club, declared the green open for play and extended a welcome to the visiting bowlers who were present. An iced birthday cake had been made and donated by Mrs W. Studholme and this was cut and distributed before play commenced. There were six lady foundation members present and each had the following duty to perform: — Mrs T. Anderson lit the candles on the cake; Mrs W. Studholme blew the candles out; Mrs R. Walker cut the cake; Mrs J. Perrow rolled the first kitty of the day; Mrs R. Stevenson rolled the first bowl of the day; Mrs A. McKegg was hostess for the afternoon. A sumptuous afternoon tea was provided by the ladies, and unfortunately play had to be abandoned earlier than usual owing to light rain setting in.
