BRIGHT DISPLAY OF BLOOMS
St. Andrew’s Church Flower Show
The highlight of St. Andrew's Church (lower show and sale of work on Friday last was the magnificent array of dafodils. This was somewhat surprising tor the week before the show the weather was anything but good. All the classes were represented with the best specimens of their types. The honour of winning the championship fell on Mrs J. W. Millar with a beautiful bloom, a coloured cup incomparablis named “ Hugh Poate.” Cut flowers, though not so numerous, and the decorative section were especially good and claimed a lot of attention. The sewing and knitting sections were well filled and embraced some excellent exhibits. Good entries were received for the baking section and the judge had dilliculty in separating many uniformly meritorious exhibits. 'The childrens classes Were a feature of the show. Miniature gardens, saucers <> f Moating (lowers and bowls rivetted attention. The poster designs and fancy work among other exhibits reflected great credit on the teachers as well as the children. The ladies in charge of the various stalls reported good business. Just before the conclusion of the show the Rev. P. Anderson presented the awards and congratulated the woikeis, especially the secretary. Mrs J. W. Miller and last but not least, the exhibitors.
