FAREWELL TO MISS MUNRO

A supper party to farewell Miss Mary Munro. who has been transferred to the Dunedin office of the Bank New Zealand, was held by members of the Queenstown Girls’ Sports Club at the Ambassadors’ Tearooms last week. The president of the club, Mr E. K. Hop wood, extended the congratulations of the club to Miss Munro upon her promotion. He stated that the guest of the evening had been a worthy citizen of ’ Queenstown and had taken a very active part in the activities of the club. Miss Munro had been generous at all times with her talents as a violinist and in this respect had taken a prominent part in the social life of Queenstown. Her parents had good reason to be proud of their daughters’ business and social achievements in her home town. Dr W. A. Anderson, a vice-president, eulogised the good work Miss Munro had carried out for the entertainmnt and progress of the town. Mr P. D. Dougherty, vice-president, also paiad tribute to the guest of the evening and referred to the esteem in which Miss Munro was held by the people of Queenstown. Mr T. Donaldson and Miss 'Olive Christie (chairwoman) expressed the good wishes of the members to Miss Munro in her new sphere. On behalf of the club, Miss Christie presented Miss Munro with a coloured photograph of Queenstown and a book, which was autographed by all present. Miss Munro responded and tendered her thanks for the sentiments expressed and stated that she had greatly enjoyed the club life and would long remember her association with the club.
