Erection of Head Teacher’s Residence at Arrowtown Sought
Inquiries regarding tenders for the erection of a head teachers’ residence are to be made from the Otago Education Board by the Arrowtown School Committee, according to a decision made at a monthly meeting of the committee, held on September 9. If no tenders have been received the committee recommends that fresh tenders be invited and be advertised. Messrs B. J. Fletcher, Win. Given, G. P. Ogilvie and the secretary, Mrs 1. B. Ritchie were present at the meeting. In the absence of the chairman, Mr M. Elliot, Mr G. P. Ogilvie was voted to the chair. It was decided that 12 gallons of creasote be procured from the gasworks to eliminate the weeds protruding through the sections of concrete in the play ground. Mr Walker head teacher reported that at the opening of school after the holidays the roll call was 71. Accounts ammounting to £6 8s lOd were presented and passed for payment. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting.
