Annual Tournament

Good entries* particularly in the men’s events, were received for the Wanaka Golf ' Club’s annual tournament held last Friday and Saturday, Ideal. weather conditions were experienced on both days, the best, in fact, that the club has had for the tournament for some years. The greens were in good order, and players were allowed to place on the five new holes recently constructed on the" club’s links. Results were; — Women’s Stableford Bogey.—Miss McLean 1. Next best scores: Mrs K. Thomson, Mrs Aitken, and Miss Harvey. Women’s Four-ball Bogey.— Mesdames Waldron and Stumbles (Cromwell) 5 up, Mesdames W. Scaife and G. Morns (Wanaka) 1 up, Mesdames Aiken (Gore) and Timms 1 up. Women's Handicap.—Mrs Hosie, 92 9 —63; Miss J. Harvey, 85 —19—66; Mrs Harris, 77 —6 —71; Mrs Sime, 97 25—72. Women’s Handicap (second day). Miss J. Harvey (Omakau) 90—19—71, Mrs Hosking (Cromwell) 99—28—71, Mrs W, Anderson (Wanaka) 79 —7 —72. Miss Harvey, won on the count back. The Wanaka Club held a dance in the Wanaka Hall on Friday evening, when, despite adverse weather conditions, there was a good attendance.
