Annual Tournament
Good entries* particularly in the men’s events, were received for the Wanaka Golf ' Club’s annual tournament held last Friday and Saturday, Ideal. weather conditions were experienced on both days, the best, in fact, that the club has had for the tournament for some years. The greens were in good order, and players were allowed to place on the five new holes recently constructed on the" club’s links. Results were; — Women’s Stableford Bogey.—Miss McLean 1. Next best scores: Mrs K. Thomson, Mrs Aitken, and Miss Harvey. Women’s Four-ball Bogey.— Mesdames Waldron and Stumbles (Cromwell) 5 up, Mesdames W. Scaife and G. Morns (Wanaka) 1 up, Mesdames Aiken (Gore) and Timms 1 up. Women's Handicap.—Mrs Hosie, 92 9 —63; Miss J. Harvey, 85 —19—66; Mrs Harris, 77 —6 —71; Mrs Sime, 97 25—72. Women’s Handicap (second day). Miss J. Harvey (Omakau) 90—19—71, Mrs Hosking (Cromwell) 99—28—71, Mrs W, Anderson (Wanaka) 79 —7 —72. Miss Harvey, won on the count back. Women’s Open Championship and Women’s Central Otago Championship. Mrs Harris (Wanaka) 77, 83—160; Mrs W. Anderson (Wanaka) 88, 79 —167; Miss J. Harvey (Omakau) 85, 90—175. Men’s Stableford Bogey (best cards). —R. J. Steven (winner), P. Joblin, D. McKnight, A. Sime. Men’s Four-ball Bogey.—A. and T. Allison (Wanaka) 6 up, R. Waldron and B. Stumbles (Cromwell) 6 up. The Allisons won on the count back. Men’s Handicap. —J. Pearson, 78 12 —66; J. Morrison, 77 —10 —67; A. Allison, 81—13—68; W. Meade, 86— 18 —gg; A. O’Sullivan, 90 —22 —68. Men’s Handicap (second day).—R. Mills 86—24—62, F. O’Sullivan 88—22 —66. Men’s Open Championship.—A. Boyd (Otago) 74, 76—150; A. Sime (Otago) 76, 74 —150; H. Aitken 77, 73 —150. A. Boyd won in a play-off. Men’s Otago Central Championship. — J. Pearson (Roxburgh) 78, 82—160; L. Farrant (Wanaka) 83, 79—162; T. A. Elison (Wanaka) 82, 85 —167. The Wanaka Club held a dance in the Wanaka Hall on Friday evening, when, despite adverse weather conditions, there was a good attendance.
