QUEENSTOWN MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Magistrate’s Court; At Queenstown, on Friday, September 5, 1947, before Mr A. E. Bobbie, S.M. Shops and Offices Act Gordon Victor Wilkinson was granted permission to open the fancy goods department of his shop between the following hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Traffic Breaches Transport Department v. Michael Joseph O’Carroll, for exceeding the 40 miles an hour speed limit on the Queenstown-Cromwell Main Highway. Convicted and fined £2 and costs 10$, Transport Department v. John McWhirter Boyd, for having defective headlights and a rear light that did not comply with regulations, was fined £1 and costs 10s, McNeill and Tripp, Ltd., and John Thompson, jun., were each fined 10s, with costs 10s, for not having properly adjusted head lamps. For having no warrant of fitness for his car, Charles Alan Inglis was fined 10s and costs 10s. Wandering Stock Queenstown Borough Council v. John Brown Hamilton, jun., for having wandering stock at large on the borough streets, Hamilton was fined on four charges £2 11s, costs £2, solicitor’s fees £4 14s 6d. Damages Awarded James Shaw v. William Dennison, Arising out of a collision on the Crom-well-QueenstoWn Main Highway, between Shaw’s lorry and Dennison’s car, plaintiff was awarded damages amounting to £57 3s sd, costs £3 17s, and solicitors’ fees £7 7s.
