Buxton left on Monday morning for a holiday to be spent at Christchurch. •* i * Mr and Mrs T. L. Hanrahan and family left on Monday to spend a holiday at Karitane. • • • Mr and Mrs O. Gollop, of Christchurch, have been visitors to Queenstown during the past week. » * ♦ Mrs McKenzie, of Invercargill, who has been the guest of Mrs W. E. Robins, left for home on Monday morning. » # * Mr R. C. Robins left Queenstown on Monday on a short holiday. He will attend the Rotary conference in Timaru. * * * Captain G. H. Bennett, of Pleasant Point have returned home after a holiday spent with their daughter, Mrs W. S. Kirkland. , * * * Miss Lilian McDonald of Timaru, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs J. McDonald and who was one of the guest artists at the Rotary evening, returned home on Friday morning. * * * Mr and Mrs J. Stobe and family, of Invercargill, have ' spent the school vacation here, being in residence iti their Queenstown cottage, upper Hay street. * * * Mrs W. Matthews and Miss Beverley, of Dunedin, formerly of Queenstown, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs J. Walsh, Brunswick street, returned to Dunedin on Saturday. * * • The friends of Mr R. D. Ross (Queenstown), who has been a patient in the Montecillo Home, Dunedin, during the past two months, will be pleased to know that he is now much improved. * * * Mr and Mrs W. D. Warren returned on Friday evening last after being absent from the district for the past three months. Mr and Mrs Warren made their holiday headquarters at Wellington and visited Auckland, Nelson, and Christchurch during their tour. • • • Mr and Mrs J. N. Armour are at present visiting Queenstown, being in residence at their home in Man street. Mrs H. Vezey and Miss Vezey, of Ashburton, left on Monday morning after spending the school vacation in Queenstown. * * * Members of the Lake Wakatip Steamer Service, together with members of the office staff, met during the past week to bid farewell to Mr Garth Lonsdale who has terminated his service with the department and has received a position on the local staff of the Bank of New Zealand. Mr C. G. Pettigrew and Mr L. Forde spoke of the good qualities of Garth during his short term on the office staff and congratulated him on his new appointment and presented him with a wallet and a fountain pen.
