WEDDING

Watt —Allan

The marriage was solemnised at the St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Arrowtown, on August 20, of Miss Jean Allan, second daughter of Mr and Mrs J. G. Allan, Lower Shotover, and Andrew David Watt, second son of the late Mr and Mrs J. Watt, of Invercargill. The Rev. Mr Doig, of Cromwell, was the officiating minister, and Mrs W. J. Shaw was the organist. Escorted by her father, the bride looked charming in a gown of white embossed satin, which featured a lowfitting . waisted bodice, heart-shaped neckline, and was finished at the back with small satin buttons to the waistlino. She wore a tulle veil her mother wore on her wedding day, which was hold in place with a beautiful tatted halo. She carried a sheath of arum lilies, freesias, maidenhair fern, and heath. The bride was attended ’by her two sisters, Misses Jessie and Daphne Allan, as bridesmaids. They both wore green silk crepe ankle-length frocks cut on similar lines to that of the bride, and carried -bouquets of narcissi, maidenhair fern, and heath. Mr Reg. Shields was best man, and Mr Wattio Everett was groomsman. The church was beautifully decorated for the’occasion, with jasmine and evergreen, and the guests’ pews tied with white satin bows. The breakfast was catered for by Mrs E. L, Thompson, and was held in the - Athenaeum Hall. The guests were recieved by the bride’s mother, .Mrs J. G. Allan, and the bridegroom’s cousin, Mrs J\. Gallagher! Mrs Allan wore a tailored costume of autumn tonings with brown accessories and a shoulder spray of red roses to tone. Mrs Gallagher wore ,a blue and white floral frock with blue and white accessories and shoulder spray to tone. The three-tier wedding cake was a gift to the bride from a friend, and the flowers used on the top were those previously used on her mother’s wedding cake. The best man read many congratulatory telegrams. For Travelling, the bride chose a green *suit with nigger brown accessories. The future home of Mr and Mrs Watt will be Dipton West.
