Tenth Birthday Party

More than 100 gnosis were present when pupils of the Queenstown District High School celebrated the school’s tenth anniversary by entertaining past pupils, as well as relatives and friends, ut a function staged in the Garrison Hall on Thursday, August 21. Allison Johnson, one of the senior pupils, extended a welcome to the visitors for the occasion. The programme, interspersed by a variety of items and dances, was a credit to the pupils, who were solely responsible for the entertainment. Main feature of the evening was a play entitled “ llordie Poacher,” Marion Anderson, Bill McDonald and David Boyd taking parts. Other items included a pianoforte recital by Doris Sanders and Joyce Cockburn, and part songs contributed by the girls. Dance music was played by Doris Sanders, Margaret and Joyce (Jockburn, and Denise Bennetts, and .a number of novelty dances were # included in the programme, Bill Anderson, Frances Cosgrove, and Pauline Edwards running out winners. Privilege of blowing out the candles on a birthday cake made by the school pupils was accorded Margaret Cockburn, the youngest pupil. Cutting of the cake was entrusted to Miss D. Begg, on* of the foundation members.
