NEW SWITCHBOARDS
Additional Telephone Facilities Two new switch boards of 100 numbers each are at present being installed in the local post office, replacing the existing board which had a capacity of 130 lines, and which lias been fully taxed for many months. It was anticipated that the new equipment would come into operation last Sunday. The additional facilities will permit the connection of a number of applicants for telephone service who have been on the waiting list for a considerable period—some in fact since 1945. In addition, when a programme of outside cabling and reconstruction work is completed—provided the supply of telephones improves—it should be possible to meet the demand for telephone service in Queenstown for some time to come.’
His Wallpaper Is Cash. More than 300 currency notes from Russia, the Philippines, East Indies, Japan, and every European country except Sweden, paper the walls and ceilings of a bar in the Market Inn, Salisbury. They were given as souvenirs to the licensee by servicemen.
