ARROWTOWN W..D.F.F.
1 Soap Sent to London Mrs J. B. Summers presided over a splendid attendance of members of the Arrowtown W.D.F.F. at the monfihly meeting of the branch, held in the local schoolroom on August 16. A hearty wlecorae was extended to Mrs J. T. McEiity. Apologies were received from Mesdames A. Scott and W. P. Saunders. Subject to the Lake County and Internal Boroughs Historical Committee requesting a representative from the branch, Mrs A. Hamilton was unanimously elected for that position. i A roll call for a cake of soap to be forwarded to Britain met with the usual splendid response, members deciding to forward the collection to Miss Fisher a former resident of Arrowtown now living in London —for her to distribute. A vote of thanks was accorded to Mr E, Thompson, who demonstrated mop making from unravelled wool. The finished article was donated to the division by Mr Thompson. Winners of a bloom competition were: Large bloom —Mrs A. Reid 1, Mrs A. Scott 2, Mrs G. Bowler 3; small bloom— Mrs H. McLean 1, Miss Kinross 2, Mrs A. Reid 3. Garden Club members were asked to bring in any plants they had to spare to the September meeting, as the season should then be suitable for transplanting. Voting on the suggested change of day from Saturday to Friday resulted in the retention of Saturday by 14 votes to 10. Hostesses were Mesdames W. B. Gibb, H. McLean, and Miss Methven. Roll call for the September meeting is to be three plain oven scones.
