LIBRARY COMMITTEE

Queenstown Borough Council Five residents of the town became members of the library during July stated the librarian, Miss N. Davidson, in her report to the Queenstown Borough Council at its meeting last Thursday. Several visitors to the town joined during their stay, fees and lines for the period amounted to £4 9s 2d, stated the report. Councillor Sew Hoy, chairman of the Library Committee, moving the adoption of the report submitted a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the library for the last financial year, and referred to the good work that was being carried out by the librarian, also to the increase in receipts in fees and fines.

The chairman, Mr D. 11. Cockburn, moved that the librarian’s salary be increased to £72 p.a. This motion was seconded by Cr Hamilton and on being put to the meeting was carried.
