Report to Council
Matters which had received attention during the month were detailed in the report of the Works Committee of the Queenstown Borough Council received at a meeting of the council last Thursday. . The following matters had received attention during the period, stated the report; —Repaired stopcocks at- D. Sutherland’s, J. Tripp, Eossford House, camping ground, D. Knowles, R. JMills, Wheatley’s shop. Thawing out frozen pipes, cutting firewood for office use, sweeping and cleaning Garrison Hall, making stopcock and manhole ■covers, gravelling Weaver street, Shotover street, at bridge, Stanley street, Melbourne street, Camp street, and several small potholes, spreading sand school ground on footpatli at fPrankton road, Melbourne street, Henry street, Skippers road, and front of High School, blowing dead ends, cleaning mud tanks and crossings, assisting in levelling plots in cemetery, attending to opening of grid in water course, Melbourne street, installing water crossing at G. McMillan’s property, obtaining gravel and clay for binding holes in highway, sealed street. Sexton ■duties were also carried out.
The report was adopted on the motion of Crs Hamilton and Thompson. ■ His Worship drew the council’s attention to the fact that there was no water available at the new sports grounds. It was agreed to install a tap on this area and also to make alterations to water supply at the cemetery. It was resolved to engage Mr W. Holland, to trim the gorse hedge around new sports ground, and that footpaths requiring attention be gravelled. -
