Queenstown W.D.F.F. To Send Food Parcels to Britain
A food parcel is to be sent each month to a needy family in England, according to a decision made at a wellattended meeting of the Queenstown branch of the W.D.F.F., held on Friday, August 1. The vice-president, Miss E. Davies, presided. The roll call for September is to be “ Something for this parcel.” The parceT will be sent direct from the branch to a family in England. Members are reminded not to forget their tin next meeting day. Apologies "were received from members unable to be present, two new members being welcomed. The roll call, “A country I w r ould like to visit and why,” was well responded to, England and Scotland being favoured as the most popular countries. A competition arranged by one of the hostesses was w r on by Mrs Lonsdale. After an enjoyable afternoon tea, served by Mesdames Maude, Burns and MacKenzie, Mrs D. H. Cockburn, the branch executive member, addressed the meeting regarding the division of the Otago executive into smaller executives. The speaker gave a very thorough explanation on this subject. Mrs Cockburn was appointed to represent the branch at a meeting in Dunedin on August 4. ,
The competition for September will he “A small jar 'of spring flowers,” and a cuddly toy or a toy of any description. The chairwoman appealed to all members to bring something in the toy line to help make a good parcel of toys he send away to CORSO.
