Farewell to Mr W. J.

Oae of Queenstown’s most enthusiastic bowlers and a popular member on the green of the Wakatipu Bowling Club, Mr W. J. Hore, was farewelled by fellow club members at the Ambassadors Tea rooms on Tuesday of last week. Mr'Hore has been promoted to the position of postmaster at Arrowtown.
Mr W. H. Nelson, who occupied the chair in the absence of the president, Mr W. D. Warren, made reference to Mr Hore’s qualities, not only as a bowler, but also as- a member who had helped the club in administrative affairs. Mr Nelson explained how the club had expanded during Mr Hore’s term on the executive committee. He was secretary from 1938 to 1941, president from 1942 to 1944, and on the executive following that. Opening the toast list the chairman asked members to rise and drink the health of the King. Other toasts were: __“ Otago Bowling Centre,” proposed by Dr W. A. Anderson, responded to by Mr C. Smart; “Absent Friends,”
