Caretaker Appointed For Queenstown Camping Ground
From 36 applications for the position of caretaker of the Queenstown Borough Camping ground, Mr D. Galbraith, Queenstown, was appointed at a special meeting of the Borough Council last week;
The chairman of the Camping Ground Committee advised a Mail reporter that the camp had become so popular over the last two years that it was felt the position warranted a full-time caretaker. This appointment, he said, would bo a great boon to campers.
During the year, added the chairman further amenities would be provided at the ground. The first job undertaken would be reading, laying out, marking off, numbering and levelling all camp sites. Additions to supplement the present hot water system would be carried out by installing another 200-gallon circulator so that a plentiful supply of hot water would be assured for the hot showers, baths, wash-basins, laundry, etc., also a telephone would be installed before the season began. The chairman further stated that' all amenities, including hot points and iron plugs, would be free in the camp this year and that campers should enjoy a good holiday at a small cost to themselves.
