“ Man From Frisco ” “ Ships, still more ships, and even more ships will help smash the enemy until unconditional surrender is achieved.” These words, spoken by the great general, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, sounded the keynote for the astounding programme of American shipbuilding industry. With Hitler’s Üboat wolf packs inflicting great damage along the Atlantic sea-lanes, leaving death and destruction in their wake, America’s ship-builders came to the fore with a solution destined to successfully combat the submarine peril. “ Man From Frisco,” the Republic picture, tells the story of those hardy ship-building pioneers, who, in spite of scoffing criticis, introduced prefabrication and the principals of mass production to make possible the launching of a Liberty ship within 40 days after the laying of the keel, Through these fascinating methods, America turned out 2300 speedy Liberty ships. Thanks to the efforts of the ship-building industry, the U-boat menace was soon almost a thing of the past. “ Man From Frisco ” stars Michael O’Shea and Anne Shirley, with Gene Lockhart, Tommy Bond, Dan Duryea, Ray Walker and Stephanie Bachelor in support. Robert Florey directed.
