OBITUARY
Mr R. F. Payne The death occurred on Friday, June 13. at Frankton TJospital of Mr Richard Francis Payne, after a fortnight’s illness. The late Mr Payne was born at Lawrence and was a son of the late William and Sarah Payne well-known residents of Lunisden. He was educated at the Dipton School and spent sometime at, Castle Roch, later coming to Arrowtown where he married Miss Christina Gibson on June 29, 1892, who predeceased him a number of years ago. Practically all his life he was a miner working at- the Premier Mine, Maeetown, the Carrick (Bannockburn), and the seheelite Glenorchy. After the mines closed down he spent a short time at Threepwood and Ayrburn, he was of a kindly and retiring disposition. There were two children of the marriage, Miss Doris Payne of Arrowtown, and .William who died in 1914. The funeral took place on Sunday. The Rev. P. C. Williams officiating. The pall hearers were Messrs J. Fletcher, E. B. Taylor, W. Martin and A. Erridge. A number of floral tributes were placed on the grave.
