AN EYE-SORE
Many townspeople as well as visitors, on passing over the town creek must look with disfavour at the rubbish, tins, and other oddments of all descriptions that find a place in the bed of the creek. Not so long ago, officers of the Internal Affairs Department, made a thorough clean-out of this creek, but before a week had passed a fresh supply of rubbish, etc., had arrived to take its place. We understand that strict supervision is going to be made by this Department, as this creek is a spawning ground for a quantity of the lakes trout,
and action can be taken for pollution of waters. In any case it is a matter of civic pride as this creek could be made a miniature Avon if the example set by the Post and Telegraph was carried out along its banks.
