ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH LADIES’ GUILD

The guild ami friends enjoyed a happy social hour or two on the occasion of their annual gift afternoon. Miss Johnstone of Coluinha College, Dunedin, gave a most amusing reading with a real Scots accent from “A Window .in Thrums.” Mrs Gordon Buxton, accompanied by Mrs D. Grant, delighted all with an exquisite rendering of “ Smiling Through ” and “Salaam." Mrs MeCallum gave a most interesting competition, the winners being Miss Davies and Mrs Anderson. Joyce and Margaret t ockhuru sang as a duet, “ The Blue Bird of Happiness.” followed hy the “ Shearers’ Jamboree.” Miss Davies ably accompanied them. Lindly Davies and Eunice Tripp delighted all with their playing and Gale Evans by her recitation. Mrs p. Anderson gave one or two readings and so ended a happy afternoon of fellowship and entertainment made more enjoyable by the delicious afternoon tea provided by the ladies of the guild. Oui thanks are specially due to Mrs J. C. C'ockburn, convener, aiid Mrs MeCallum, who organised the afternoon s entertainment.
