Last week, at Kaukapakapa, Miss M Dormer was married to Mr Ridgdale, of Otira, South Island, where their future home will be. Rev. Steele officiated, and a large number of relatives and friends attended the wedding breakfast.

Miss Joyce Bailey recently resigned her position on the office staff of the local branch of the N.Z. Farmers' Union, to take up the nursing profession. Miss Bailey left Helensville at the beginning of last week to take up a probationary position on the staff of the Auckland Hospital.

OBITUARY.— An old Albertland settler, Mrs Emily Becroft, who was born in Wisbech, England, in 1854, died last week

at Port Albert. Mrs Becroft arrived in

Auckland with her parents in the ship V, Bombay in 1863, and five years later ,\ moved to Port Albert, where she lived for

j 50 years. In 1880 she was married to the / late Mr Peter Becroft, who when eight > years old arrived with his father, the late Mr-John Becroft, sen., in the Matilda Wattenbach with the original Albertland pioneers. Mr and Mrs Becroft made their home at Sunnyside, Port Albert, where 'they were engaged in fruit farming. Five sons survive the mother. The Becroft family of Helensville were relatives of deceased.
