SILVER WEDDING

The silver wedding anniversary of Mr and Mrs W. Fryer-Raisher, of "Lezayre," Orakei rd., Remuera, was celebrated last week. On Wednesday evening Mr and Mrs Fryer-Raisher entertained about 40 guests at dinner. Loyal and congratulatory toast list beinp; duly honored, the evening*' was very happily filled by music, dancing, cards, etc. Many silver gifts were received, amongst which was a handsome silver goblet, of large proportions, suitably inscribed and bearing the crests of both families. The festivities were continued on Saturday night, when notwithstanding tV;e very boisterous weather, a party numbering over fifty were marshalled hy Captain Feldon at the top of Orakei road, the ladies being laden with all sorts of provisions, and the men with their own particular idea of music, from a benzine tin to asilverhorn, marched down to and surrounded the residence. At a given signal the "music" started, and the company were welcomed by the family, who perforce permitted the ladies to take charge of the whole house. The large drawing-room was cleared, and dancing soon in full swing. Shortly after this reinforcements under the command of MrC.'Cawkwell stormed the castle, and the good fun was carried on, with a break for supper, till just before midnight. Three rousing cheers were given for the popular and happy pair, and again for the family, after a splendidly enjoyable and momentous evening,
