SCHOOL CONCERT

LARGE ATTENDANCE

A record audience (estimated at 1 800) was present at the Lyric Theatre last Thursday night, on the occasion .of the Helensville annual school concert. A lengthy and varied programme was gone through by the children, w.hich met with the entire approval of the audience, who loudly applauded every item. The training of the children must have involved.a considerable amount of work, and great,credit is due to the staff of the school (headed by Mr A. Stewart) for the manner in which they had the children right up to the mark in their various items. During the evening Mr ' C. West, on behalf of the school teachers and committee, thanked the audience tor their splendid support, in turning out so well on such a rough night. He stated that the gross receipts amounted to £38. An extra item not on the programme was a couple of Highland dances given by members of the Cameron' family, the items being loudly applauded.
