Mr J. Jonos, auctioneer, City. Markets report sales for week ending December 10th, 1920:—
We handled over 3000.head poultry and record prices for turkeys were realised. Good heavy . hens and young ducks selling well and a line of 150 young heavy Pekin ducks realised 7s to 8s sd. Pigs : Prices considerably easier. Potatoes and onions arriving now in heavy supply, and prices are with downward tendency, Butter, eggs and bacon selling well. Fruit: Selling well, except lemons, which are in heavy supply, and selling slow. We quote : Poultry—Hens, prime, heavy 6s 6d to 7s 9d, good 5s 3d .to .6s. 3d, heb,t3s 9d to 4s 3d; roosters, prime, young, heavy, 8s 3d to 9s 10d, good, "7s to 8b;: cbckrels, 3b 6d to 58 3d; ducks;'young heavy. 7s to 8s 50, good, young, 6s to 7s, old I. R. 4s to 6d; pullets, 5s to 6s; chickens, 6dto7d; ducklings Is to 2s; turkey gobblers, £1 5s to £1 14s 9d,- hens, turkeys, £1 to £1 Bs. A line "of extra choice quality turkeys realised up to £2 each." Pigs—Weaners £1 Is to £1 2s 6d, stores £1 5s to £1 17b.Fruit—Apples 13s to £l-4s 6d, lemons 8s to 9d, oranges £1 10s, bananas £1 12 s 6d, plums 6s to 8s 9d. Produce—Potatoes, prime, 9s 6d to 11s, onions, local, 2d to 2Vid,kumera 3d, butter Is 6d to Is Bd, eggs 2s 4d to 2s s^d, cheese Is 4d, ham Is 7d, sides Is 6d, honey lOd to lO^d. Grain—Maize 5s 6d to 89 6d, oat» 5s 6d, chaff £13 to £14 lOe, bran 11s 6d, sharps 13s 6d.
