BENZINE DISTRIBUTION.
There is something radically wrong with the present method of distributing benzine supplies throughout tho country (states the Wairoa BelU, for while a few favoured individuals appear to secure supplies far beyond their immediate requirements, other people are inflicted with no end of hardship. Some merchants or their servants must be past masters in the art of prevarication, for all sorts of tales are being told. For instance, by the same boat from Helensville with an Auckland cargo, one man will get a note from a merchant " regretting inability to supply as all stocks are exhausted," while another man will receive supplies far in excess of requirements, and still another will be told that 50, 60 or more cases arc following. There is a big screw loose somewhere, and the the time has arrived for the business people of the district to combine and take steps for the protection of the interests of the district. We are now into the milking season, and work of other descriptions requiring regular petrol supplies, and an effort should be made to have an adequate allotment made for the district and a local commitiiee appointed to supervise the distribution of the same. It seems to be a poor business to have to rely upon Auckland.
Pretty well the same thing applies in the Helensville district, and while some car owners are thankful to get a tin even, others seem to have qnlimiteq 1 stocks, and rqn, rqund as if there were nq hint to shortage.
