Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons, report :—At Westfield weekly fat stock market yesterday, our supply of fat cattl" numbered 393 head, comprising 284 steers, 108 cows and heifers and one bull.
The quality of the steer beef was again first-class. There continues to be a strong demand, and last week's advanced values were easily sustained and in odd cases exceeded.
Extra choice ox sold up to £3 63 per 1001b; choice and prime from £3 to £3 4s ; ordinary and plain, £2 12s to £2 16s , and rough beef £1 18s to £2 2s. "
Cow and heifer beef made from £2 7a to £2 17s.
Heavy prime steers sold at from £26 to £31 for steers from Mr H. E. Reed, Waerenga. Lighter prime made from £21 to £26 ; light prime, £17 10s to £20 unfinished from £12 2s 6d to £17
Heavy prime cows changed hands a prices ranging from £15 to £18; lighte prime cows from £11 10s to £14 10s others from £5 10 to £11.
The highest average for steers wer« for 14 from Mr H. E. Reed, of Waerenga, £20 Is 9d.
